The camera is installed in the municipality building of the Norwegian city of Alesund. We can see the houses on the shore of the Norwegian Sea, as well as the local port, where big cruise ships and small tourist ships arrive regularly. This small town with a population of about 40,000 people has become a well-known tourist destination due to its architectural style. Aalesund is one of the few cities in the world built in the style of “Art Nouveau”.
This city has a very mild climate due to its location near the Gulf Stream. Alesund is located between the famous Geiranger fjord (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the less popular, but no less attractive, Hyurond fjord.
The beautiful city you see on your screens was built after a large fire at the beginning of the twentieth century, which destroyed many buildings of old Alesund. Therefore, almost the entire city was built in 1904-1907.
