Webcam in the heart of Plzen (also known as Pilsen), located on the Square of Republic. The city is known worldwide for its Pilsner beer and is often called the Capital of Czech beer. Plzen is the fourth-largest city in the Czech Republic.
The most important cultural attraction of the city is the Gothic Saint Bartholomew’s Cathedral, which was founded in the 13th century. Its tower is 102 metres high and is known to be the highest in the whole Czech Republic. Other interesting cultural and architectural sights are the Renaissance Town Hall and the Moorish Revival Great Synagogue.
The most important beer-related annual event is the Pilsner Festival. It is celebrated every year in the end of September, beginning of October.
